Brunch at Penny Royal Cafe
There is nothing that says love like breakfast. Penny Royale is a true local favorite and you can’t go wrong with surprising your special someone with a good old fashioned breakfast to start the day. An upscale diner that features delicious frittatas, Dutch baby pancakes, an assortment of pastries and coffees and a monte cristo croissant that is to die for. Here you will find locals and visitors alike dining in the adorable, little cafe. Penny Royal sources their ingredients from local farmers and has an equally decadent dinner menu. While the owners take time off in the winter, the restaurant will be opening back up February 12, just in time for Valentine’s Day. We highly encourage calling ahead and making reservations as this is a popular place!
Hiking Mount Baldhead
No visit to Saugatuck is complete without taking in the breathtaking views of Lake Michigan. For an adventurous and scenic date, hike up Mount Baldhead and take in the stunning winter landscape. The climb isn’t for the faint of heart, with 302 steps leading up to a one-mile loop of trails, but trust us—the panoramic views are worth it! If uphill treks aren’t your thing, opt for cross-country skiing at the Felt Estate. With over three miles of mostly flat terrain, it’s perfect for beginners. After your snowy excursion, warm up with a handcrafted coffee at Uncommon Roasters, a local favorite that truly knows its way around a cup of coffee.
